DAS Technician
Job Description
- Install antennas and mount electronic equipment per iBwave, construction drawings, and RFDS sheets.
- Operate hand tools, various man-lifts, and test equipment as necessary for proper cable and equipment installation.
- Work under the direct supervision of the DAS Lead on-site; may work independently on smaller job sites.
- Previous experience installing in-building DAS systems is highly preferred.
- Follow established safety procedures and policies to ensure safe work practices at all times.
- Install racks and other mounting systems for manufacturer equipment.
- Install various types of cabling, including coaxial cable, Cat 6 cable, fiber optic cable, and DC power cable. Use appropriate tie-down methods such as wax string knots, Velcro, zip ties, etc.
- Install DAS equipment grounding as required.
- Mount various DAS equipment per client and manufacturer specifications.
- Clean job sites and maintain an orderly work area, often in cramped conditions.
- Decommission old equipment, including radios, racks, and cabling as needed.
Job Requirements
- Ability to travel to project sites for extended periods (multiple weeks, as needed) throughout the continental United States, sometimes with little advance notice.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and attitude in client locations, including sensitive healthcare, industrial, and office facilities.
- Provide basic hand tools. Specialized tools and equipment will be provided by the company.
- Demonstrate the ability to work well in a small team and a willingness to learn all tasks necessary for project completion.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to repeatedly ascend and descend ladders and stairs. Significant walking may be required at large venues.
- Ability to work in small, cramped areas for extended periods, including attics and drop-ceiling spaces.
- Valid driver’s license.
DAS Lead Technician
Job Description
- Must have wireless telecom experience, specifically in building DAS system installation (preferably 5+ years).
- Maintain open and accurate communication with the company office, landlord representatives, and clients.
- Directly lead a team of 3-5 people on medium to large-scale in-building distributed antenna system installations, ensuring successful project completion.
- Interface with building/landlord representatives or host DAS representatives while on-site.
- Hold overall responsibility for on-site safety and quality.
- Ensure completion of all required testing, including Sweep, PIM, Fiber, and Cat 6.
- Ensure closeout requirements are met on-site.
- Identify and troubleshoot on-site issues promptly and effectively.
- Identify material issues immediately and escalate problems to minimize delays, ensuring the team stays on track with established timelines.
- Think methodically to solve complex problems and provide guidance to the team.
- Drive the performance of the on-site crew and ensure execution aligns with the project plan.
- Assist with material ordering and project timeline development.
- Accurately report job status, material usage, and expenses to the back office.
- Ability to learn and support post-construction tasks, including integration and commissioning of in-building DAS.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role is highly preferred.
- Supervise and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance on installation procedures and safety protocols.
- Ensure proper documentation of installation processes and maintain a high level of organization for project records.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure alignment on project scope, timelines, and budget.
